Founded in 1923, our funeral home has been in business for over 90 years. The current generation of the James family represents the third generation to own and operate Hallowell & James as a family operated funeral home. Family owned and operated was once the norm in the funeral home industry. Today, having a family member deeply involved in arrangements from beginning to end is not a promise many other funeral homes can keep.

Hallowell & James provides dignified cremation options for families. Many service and memorial options that conclude with cremation are available. There are two methods of cremation from which to choose. In addition to traditional flame cremation, hydrolysis, a water based method is also available in Illinois.
