About Chapman Cole & Gleason
The Bridgewater location of family-owned and -run Chapman, Cole & Gleason is called Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason because in 2008 it merged with Prophett Funeral Home, which was run by the Prophett family from 1860 to 1987. Their first location was a “store front” funeral home in the center of Bridgewater. Back then, most funerals were conducted from the home of the bereaved, but as times changed, so did Prophett Funeral Home. In the 1940s, the Prophett family relocated their funeral home to 98 Bedford Street (Rt. 18) to stay current with the community and new funeral traditions.
