Quaker Hill is a village or neighborhood in the town of Waterford, in the southeastern part of Connecticut, USA.It is located in the northeast corner of the town, on the west bank of the Thames River (around Smith Cove) north of New London, and centered on the intersection of the Old Norwich Road and the Old Colchester Road.Modern-day Quaker Hill is primarily residential.The village center is included in the Quaker Hill Historic District, a historic district that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. History
This intersection was made famous by the "House in the Middle of the Road," a house that stood in the middle of the intersection with no significant yard. Quaker Hill lies at approximately Latitude 41.40 north and Longitude 72.11 west. The village is primarily residential with the center of the village being roughly the intersection of the Old Norwich Road and the Old Colchester Road. This house was burned by the Quaker Hill Fire Company as a training exercise and its former site is now the Quaker Hill Village Green. It is bordered to the east by the Thames River (Connecticut) River.
