Palmdale, Florida, another unincorporated community, is to the south. Hunting and fishing are popular recreations.The Venus Project has its research center located here, and is derived from the name of the community.

History

Venus is an unincorporated area community in southeastern Highlands County, Florida County, Florida, United States. Venus also boasts Camp Mars, one of a few known gay campgrounds in the state and a general store. Due to the availability of mobile home sites in the area, Venus has recently attracted a growing, diverse population.

Major industries in Venus include citrus growing and cattle raising. It is located on County Road 731 off US Route 27 27.
