This village was well known to have a number of taverns and nightclubs and was known as one of the biggest entertainment areas of Franklin County from the 1950's to the early 1980's, as of now (2009) only one club remains (Cotton Club) which is open till 4 am, the only club in Southern Illinois to remain open so late.
