Rome is an unincorporated area community along the Ohio River in southeastern Tobin Township, Perry County, Indiana Township, Perry County, Indiana County, Indiana, United States. From 1819 to 1859 Rome was the second county seat of Perry County, after Troy, Indiana The Rome Courthouse was built in 1819 to mimic the first Indiana Capital in Corydon. Although Rome is unincorporated, it has a post office.
Rome was first established it was named Washington, then its name was changed to Franklin, and finally to Rome in 1819. .
