History
Minot (founded 1802) is a New England town in Androscoggin County, Maine County, Maine, United States. At that time there were several Indians of the Anasagunticook tribe living in the immediate area. In 1795, Bakerstown Plantation was incorporated as Poland, Maine named after Chief Poland, a noted local Indigenous peoples of the Americas sachem. Today, Minot is gradually transitioning into a bedroom community of the cities of Auburn and Lewiston, Maine|Lewiston. There was also manufacturing in leather, particularly boots, shoemaking saddles and horse harness In 1842, land was set off to form Auburn, Maine to which more land was ceded in 1873.
