It is part of the Springfield, Massachusetts Springfield, Massachusetts metropolitan area Statistical Area. Blandford is a New England town in Hampden County, Massachusetts County, Massachusetts, United States. It is the home of the Blandford Ski Area.
Blandford was first settled in 1735 by Scots-Irish American settlers and was officially incorporated in 1741. The population was 1,214 at the 2000 census. Initial settlement in the nearby Pioneer Valley was by English Puritans whereas Blandford's Scots-Irish settlers were Presbyterianism and their English was still somewhat influenced by Scottish Gaelic Thus there were significant ethnic, religious, economic, and linguistic differences between these adjacent regions of settlement.
