History
The town went through the names Ham's-town, East-town and Watertown before it was incorporated as Wakefield in 1774 by Colonial Governor John Wentworth (governor) Wentworth. Wakefield is a New England town in Carroll County, New Hampshire County, New Hampshire, United States. Wakefield, in Yorkshire, England England, is near Wentworth Castle, the home of the Wentworth ancestors. Part of Milton, New Hampshire was annexed in 1858.
