Cuney is a town in Cherokee County, Texas, United States. Cuney is located in the northwestern portion of the county along U.S. Highway 175. The population was 140 at the 2010 census.Cuney was the only \"wet\" town in Cherokee County from the mid-1980s until 2009, when voters in Rusk came out in favor of beer/wine sales. Cuney is still the only town in the county selling liquor.

Jacksonville residents only have to drive 10 miles out into the rural part of the county to purchase beer, liquor, and wine, unlike Smith County, Texas County/Tyler, Texas residents who travel to Coffee City, Texas City.
