History

Duff, who purchased the original land on which the town was built. New Ulm, Texas is a small, unincorporated town in south central Texas located midway between Austin, Texas and Houston, Texas It was founded in 1841 as "Duff's Settlement", named for James C. The original site of New Ulm is approximately one mile away from its present location.

New Ulm, located Austin County, Texas County at the intersection of FM 109 and FM 1094, is midway between six larger towns — Columbus, Texas Bellville, Texas Brenham, Texas Sealy, Texas Fayetteville, Texas and LaGrange, Texas

New Ulm has an active local Chamber of Commerce, a 4-county area Chamber of Commerce, a volunteer fire department, and a Lions Club International Club. .
