Center Strafford is an unincorporated community in the town of Strafford, New Hampshire. It is one of the two principal settlements in the town, along with Bow Lake Village.The village is located at the intersection of New Hampshire Route 126 and Route 202A. Route 126 connects Center Strafford with Barnstead to the northwest and Barrington to the southeast. Route 202A connects the village with Northwood to the southwest and Rochester to the northeast.Strafford School, serving kindergarten through eighth grade for the town of Strafford, is located in the village, as is the Hill Library. The former Austin Cate Academy, now owned by the New Hampshire National Guard, plus the town offices, post office, and Austin Hall (Strafford Historical Society) are all in Center Strafford. The village has a separate ZIP code (03815) from the rest of the town of Strafford, including Bow Lake Village.

Strafford includes the village of Bow Lake.
Once part of Barrington, New Hampshire Strafford was set off due to the lengthy travel required to attend town meetings. The population was 3,626 at the 2000 census. The Bow Lake Grange Hall, originally built in 1829 as a steam-operated mill, is now maintained by the [http://www.bowlakecc.org/ Bow Lake Community Club] and home to [http://www.lakesideplayers.org/ The Lakeside Players], a theatre group. Strafford County had been organized in 1773 during the administration of Colony Governor John Wentworth (governor) Wentworth, and named in honor of Thomas Wentworth, Earl of Strafford. Settled prior to the American Revolution the town incorporated in 1820, taking its name from the county in which it is located.
